Luke Cage also known as Power 3 Luke Cage is a fictional superhero appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Created by writer Archie Goodwin and artist John Romita Sr., he first appeared in Luke Cage, Hero for Hire #1 (June 1972). Cage is a former gang member who was wrongly convicted for a crime he did not commit and sent to prison. After a failed experiment leaves him with superhuman strength and unbreakable skin, he escapes and becomes a hero for hire. He is known for his signature catchphrase, "Sweet Christmas!" Luke Cage possesses superhuman strength and durability as a result of a cellular regeneration experiment he underwent while in prison. He is able to lift up to 25 tons and is highly resistant to physical injury. He is also an experienced street fighter and martial artist.
