General Patton Patton George Scott 1 George S. Patton was an American Army general best known for his leadership of the U.S. Third Army during World War II. He was a highly decorated soldier who was known for his aggressive and flamboyant style of command. He was also known for his controversial views on military strategy and tactics. After the war, he was appointed as the military governor of Bavaria. He died in 1945 after suffering injuries in a car accident.
