Pteranodon 2 Pteranodon is a large, extinct flying reptile that lived during the late Cretaceous period, about 85 to 70 million years ago. It had a wingspan of up to 6.5 meters (21 feet) and a weight of up to 70 kilograms (150 pounds). It had a long, toothless beak and a crest on its head. Its wings were formed by a membrane of skin, muscle, and other tissues stretching from its body to its long fourth finger. It was a carnivore, feeding mainly on fish and other small animals.
