Ruths Story 3 Ruth was a young Moabite woman who lived during the time of the Judges. She was the daughter-in-law of Naomi, an Israelite widow. When Naomi"s husband and two sons died, she was left with no one to care for her. Naomi decided to go back to her homeland of Bethlehem, and Ruth decided to go with her. When they arrived in Bethlehem, Ruth and Naomi were destitute. Ruth decided to go out into the fields to glean whatever grain she could find. By chance, she ended up in the field of Boaz, a wealthy relative of Naomi. Boaz was so impressed with Ruth"s hard work and loyalty to Naomi that he allowed her to glean in his fields. Boaz was so taken with Ruth that he proposed marriage to her. Ruth accepted, and they were married. Ruth and Boaz had a son named Obed, who was the grandfather of King David. Ruth"s story is one of faithfulness and loyalty. It is a reminder that God can use even the most unlikely people to accomplish His will. Ruth"s faithfulness to Naomi and her willingness to trust in God"s plan for her life are an example to us all.
