Hercules The Legendary Journeys-TV series 4 Hercules: The Legendary Journeys is an American television series filmed in New Zealand. It was produced from 1995 to 1999 and starred Kevin Sorbo as Hercules. The series is set in a fantasy version of ancient Greece not precisely located in historical time. It was very loosely based on the tales of the classical Greek culture hero Heracles (Hercules was his Roman analogue). The show also stars Michael Hurst as Iolaus, and Kevin Smith as Ares.
