The miniseries was directed by Tom Hooper and was adapted from the Pulitzer Prize-winning 2001 biography of the same name by historian David McCullough. The miniseries was broadcast in seven parts by HBO between March 16 and April 20, 2008. The miniseries was nominated for thirteen Emmy Awards and won four, including Outstanding Miniseries.
