Lovecraft Country-TV series Lovecraft Country is an American horror drama television series based on the novel of the same name by Matt Ruff. The series was created by Misha Green and stars Jonathan Majors, Jurnee Smollett, and Courtney B. Vance. The series follows Atticus Freeman (Majors) as he embarks on a journey across 1950s Jim Crow America in search of his missing father (Vance). Along the way, he and his companions battle both mundane terrors of white America and malevolent forces that could be straight out of a Lovecraft paperback. The series premiered on August 16, 2020, on HBO.
