Luke Cage-TV series 3 Luke Cage is an American web television series created for Netflix by Cheo Hodari Coker, based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name. It is set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), sharing continuity with the films of the franchise. The series is produced by Marvel Television in association with ABC Studios and Tall Girls Productions, with Coker serving as showrunner. Mike Colter stars as Cage, a former convict with superhuman strength and unbreakable skin who now fights crime and corruption. Mahershala Ali, Alfre Woodard, Simone Missick, Theo Rossi, Erik LaRay Harvey, Rosario Dawson, and Ron Cephas Jones also star. The first season of Luke Cage premiered on September 30, 2016, and the second season was released on June 22, 2018. In December 2018, Netflix canceled the series after two seasons.
