Mindhunter-TV series 5 Mindhunter is an American crime drama web television series created by Joe Penhall, based on the true crime book Mindhunter: Inside the FBI"s Elite Serial Crime Unit written by John E. Douglas and Mark Olshaker. The series premiered on Netflix on October 13, 2017. It stars Jonathan Groff, Holt McCallany, Anna Torv, and Hannah Gross. The series follows FBI agents Holden Ford (Groff) and Bill Tench (McCallany) as they interview imprisoned serial killers in order to understand how such criminals think, with the hope of applying this knowledge to solving ongoing cases. The first season consists of ten episodes and was released on October 13, 2017. The second season was released on August 16, 2019, and consists of nine episodes. On August 16, 2019, Netflix renewed the series for a third season.
