The series is a spin-off of Grey"s Anatomy, in which Kate Walsh"s character, Addison Montgomery, moved from Seattle to Los Angeles and joined a private practice, as featured in the second season finale of Grey"s Anatomy. Private Practice also revolves around Addison"s co-workers at Seaside Wellness Center, and how they deal with patients and the practice while still finding time to live their everyday lives. The show was created by Shonda Rhimes, who also serves as executive producer.
