Quantum Leap-TV series 2 Quantum Leap is an American science fiction television series that originally aired on NBC from March 1989 to May 1993. It was created by Donald P. Bellisario and starred Scott Bakula as Dr. Sam Beckett, a physicist who leaps through time, temporarily taking the place of other people to correct historical mistakes. The series featured Dean Stockwell as Al Calavicci, Sam"s womanizing, cigar-smoking companion and adviser. The series ran for five seasons and 97 episodes. The first four seasons are available on DVD in Regions 1, 2 and 4. The series has also been released on VHS, and is available for streaming on Hulu.
