Roma 2018 1 Roma is a 2018 Mexican drama film written and directed by Alfonso Cuarón. The film stars Yalitza Aparicio, Marina de Tavira, Diego Cortina Autrey, Carlos Peralta, and Marco Graf. It is a semi-autobiographical take on Cuarón"s upbringing in the Colonia Roma neighborhood of Mexico City. The story follows a year in the life of a middle-class family and their live-in housekeeper Cleo (Aparicio). The film premiered at the 75th Venice International Film Festival on August 30, 2018, where it won the Golden Lion. It was released in select theaters in the United States on November 21, 2018, and on Netflix on December 14, 2018.
