Shane Alan Ladd 10 /13/1913 - January 29, 1964 Shane Alan Ladd was an American actor and film producer. He is best remembered for his Academy Award-nominated performance in the 1953 western film Shane, which earned him a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor. Ladd also starred in several other westerns, including The Proud Rebel (1958), The Big Country (1958), and The Rare Breed (1966). He was also known for his roles in the film noir classics This Gun for Hire (1942) and The Glass Key (1942). Ladd died of an accidental overdose in 1964 at the age of 50.
