The Fosters-TV series 7 . The Fosters is an American family drama television series created by Peter Paige and Bradley Bredeweg which premiered on June 3, 2013 on the Freeform (formerly ABC Family) television network. The series follows the lives of the Foster family led by lesbian couple Stef and Lena, a cop and school vice principal, respectively, who are raising a multi-ethnic blend of biological, adopted, and foster children. The series initially focused on Stef and Lena"s biological son, Brandon, and his adopted brother, Jesus, and their foster siblings, Mariana and Jude, who are being raised by the couple. The Foster family also includes Lena"s brother, Mike, and Brandon"s girlfriend, Callie, who is later revealed to be the daughter of Stef"s ex-boyfriend.
