It is a lament for the destruction of the Acholi people of northern Uganda, who were displaced by the building of the Owen Falls Dam. The poem is written in the Acholi language and is composed of five sections. The poem begins with a description of the destruction of the Acholi people"s homes and the displacement of their cattle. It then moves on to describe the suffering of the Acholi people and their attempts to cope with the changes brought about by the dam. The poem ends with a plea to the gods to restore the Acholi people"s way of life.
