Ariel The Little Mermaid 2 Ariel is a mermaid and the main protagonist of Disney"s 1989 animated feature film, The Little Mermaid. She is the seventh and youngest daughter of King Triton and Queen Athena, rulers of the undersea kingdom of Atlantica. Ariel is a free-spirited mermaid, who is adventurous and ambitious. She is often rebellious and defies her father"s wishes to remain within the sea kingdom"s confines. Despite her curiosity of the human world, Ariel is often naive and impulsive, and often gets herself into trouble. She is voiced by Jodi Benson in all of her appearances.
