Frodo Baggins long plinth Frodo Baggins was a Hobbit of the Shire who bore the One Ring of Sauron and was instrumental in its destruction. He was born in the year 2968 of the Third Age to Drogo Baggins and Primula Brandybuck. He was a direct descendant of the Old Took and was a cousin to Bilbo Baggins, who was the original Ring-bearer. Frodo was entrusted with the Ring by Bilbo and was charged with the task of destroying it in the fires of Mount Doom. He was aided in his quest by a Fellowship of nine companions, including Gandalf, Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli. After a long and arduous journey, Frodo was able to cast the Ring into the fires of Mount Doom, thus destroying it and Sauron"s power. Frodo was also known for his great courage and his loyalty to his friends. He was often depicted standing atop a long plinth, with his sword, Sting, in hand.
