Laocoon Laocoon was a priest of Apollo in Greek mythology. He was the son of King Priam and Hecuba of Troy. He warned the Trojans not to accept the wooden horse left by the Greeks, but his warnings were ignored. As punishment, Poseidon sent two giant sea serpents to strangle him and his two sons. Laocoon"s death was seen as a sign of divine retribution for his disobedience. He has become a symbol of warning against the danger of heeding bad advice.
