Loretta Ross 1 Loretta Ross is a highly accomplished civil rights activist, feminist, and scholar. She is the founder and National Coordinator of the SisterSong Women of Color Reproductive Justice Collective, a network of over 70 organizations working to secure reproductive justice for women of color in the United States. She is also a professor at Smith College and has served as a Visiting Scholar at the University of Cincinnati. Ross has been a leader in the reproductive justice movement since the early 1990s, when she was the National Program Director of the National Black Women’s Health Project. She is an advocate for intersectional feminism and has been a vocal critic of the mainstream pro-choice movement for not adequately addressing the needs of women of color. Ross is also a passionate advocate for the rights of transgender and gender non-conforming people, and has been a leader in the fight for transgender rights.
