Sonic the Hedgehog 2 Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is a platform game developed and published by Sega for the Sega Genesis console. It was released in Japan in November 1992 and in North America and Europe in 1993. It also introduces Sonic"s spin dash move, which allows the player to boost from a complete standstill, and the ability for Tails to fly. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is the first game in the series to feature Tails as a playable character. The game was a critical and commercial success, with critics praising the game"s visuals and gameplay. It is often considered one of the greatest video games of all time. It was re-released in the Sonic Mega Collection and Sonic Gems Collection compilations, and was released on Xbox Live Arcade in 2009.
