The Red Queen Alice in Wonderland The Red Queen is a character from Lewis Carroll"s novel "Through the Looking-Glass," which is the sequel to "Alice"s Adventures in Wonderland." She is often confused with the Queen of Hearts from the first book, but they are distinct characters. The Red Queen is known for her quick temper and her authoritarian rule over the chessboard-like world Alice finds herself in. She is one of the chess pieces in the game that Alice is playing, and she provides Alice with a lot of advice and guidance on how to navigate the game. The Red Queen is often seen as a representation of strict Victorian-era rules and manners. She is very stern and has a very rigid way of thinking, often expecting others to follow her orders without question. Despite her harsh exterior, she does seem to have a genuine interest in helping Alice, albeit in her own unique way. In the 2010 film adaptation of "Alice in Wonderland" directed by Tim Burton, the Red Queen is combined with the Queen of Hearts and is portrayed by Helena Bonham Carter. This version of the character is tyrannical and has an unusually large head, a physical manifestation of her inflated ego and power-hungry nature.
