Totoro from My Neighbor 13 Totoro is a character from the 1988 Japanese animated fantasy film My Neighbor Totoro, directed by Hayao Miyazaki and produced by Studio Ghibli. He is a giant, friendly, and mysterious forest spirit who lives in a giant camphor tree and helps two young girls, Satsuki and Mei, as they adjust to their new home in the countryside. Totoro is often seen riding a giant, flying, and bus-like creature called a Catbus. He also has two smaller forms, a smaller version of himself called Chibi-Totoro, and a dust bunny-like creature called the Susuwatari.
