Pori in Finland 1 Pori is a city and municipality on the west coast of Finland. It is the most populous city in the Satakunta region and the seventh most populous city in the country. The city is located some 10 kilometres (6 mi) from the Gulf of Bothnia, on the estuary of the Kokemäenjoki river. The city center is located close to the river mouth, on both sides of it. Pori is known for its paper and steel industry, and for being the birthplace of the composer Jean Sibelius. It is also home to the Pori Jazz Festival, an annual international jazz festival held every July.
