Qamdo in China 3 Qamdo is a prefecture-level city located in the Tibet Autonomous Region of China. It is the largest city in the region and is located in the east of the region. It is situated on the Yarlung Tsangpo River, at an elevation of 3,100 meters (10,170 feet). The city is home to many Buddhist monasteries and temples, as well as numerous historical sites.
