Isaac and Rebekah 1 Isaac and Rebekah were a couple in the Hebrew Bible. They were the parents of Jacob and Esau, the twin sons of Isaac. According to the Book of Genesis, Rebekah was the daughter of Bethuel the Aramean from Paddan Aram and the sister of Laban the Aramean. Isaac was the son of Abraham and Sarah. Isaac and Rebekah"s marriage was arranged by Abraham"s servant, Eliezer of Damascus. After Rebekah"s brother Laban gave his consent, Rebekah and Eliezer traveled to Canaan where Isaac lived. When they arrived, Isaac was out in the fields meditating. Rebekah was given a veil to cover her face, and when Isaac saw her, he took her into his tent and married her. The couple had a happy marriage and were blessed with two sons, Jacob and Esau. Isaac loved Esau more than Jacob, but Rebekah favored Jacob. This caused tension between the brothers and eventually led to Jacob stealing Esau"s birthright. Isaac and Rebekah"s story is an important part of the Hebrew Bible and is often used to illustrate the power of God"s providence and the importance of obeying His commands. It also serves as a reminder of the importance of honoring one"s parents and the consequences of favoritism.
