It stars Bette Davis as Margo Channing, a highly regarded but aging Broadway star. Anne Baxter plays Eve Harrington, an ambitious young fan who insinuates herself into Channing"s life, ultimately threatening Channing"s career and her personal relationships. The film also features Celeste Holm, George Sanders, Hugh Marlowe, Gary Merrill, and Thelma Ritter. The film won six Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Supporting Actor (George Sanders), Best Supporting Actress (Thelma Ritter), and Best Costume Design. It was nominated for an additional seven Academy Awards, including Best Actress for Bette Davis and Best Actor for Gary Merrill.
