Utahraptor 4 Utahraptor was a large carnivorous dinosaur that lived in North America during the Early Cretaceous period, approximately 125 million years ago. It was a member of the dromaeosaurid family, which includes the well-known Velociraptor. Utahraptor was the largest dromaeosaurid, measuring up to 7 meters (23 feet) in length and weighing up to 1,100 kilograms (2,400 pounds). It had a long, low skull with a sharp, curved beak, and its hind limbs were powerful and equipped with long, curved claws. Its tail was stiffened with ossified tendons, which gave it greater balance and agility. Utahraptor was a fast, agile predator that likely hunted small to medium-sized animals, such as lizards, mammals, and other dinosaurs.
