Altered Carbon-TV series 4 Altered Carbon is an American cyberpunk streaming television series created by Laeta Kalogridis and based on the 2002 novel of the same title by English author Richard K. Morgan. The series premiered on Netflix on February 2, 2018. The series follows Takeshi Kovacs, a former soldier who is brought back to life centuries later to investigate the attempted murder of Laurens Bancroft, an extremely wealthy man. It is set in a future where consciousness can be transferred to different bodies, allowing people to live forever. The series stars Joel Kinnaman as the character in the first and second seasons, with Anthony Mackie taking over the role for the third season.
