It was directed by Gary Trousdale and Kirk Wise, and produced by Don Hahn. The film features an ensemble cast with the voices of Michael J. Fox, Cree Summer, James Garner, Leonard Nimoy, Don Novello, and Jim Varney in his final film role. The film was released by Walt Disney Pictures on June 15, 2001, and was the 41st animated feature in the Walt Disney Animated Classics series. It was the first science fiction film in the series and the first Disney animated film to feature a majority of non-white voice actors.
