Tony Hawk"s Proving Ground is a skateboarding video game developed by Neversoft and published by Activision for the PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Xbox, Xbox 360, and Nintendo DS. It is the ninth installment in the Tony Hawk"s series. The game was released in October 2007. The game features a story-driven career mode in which the player is a skateboarder trying to make a name for themselves. The player can choose to be either a "Rigger" (a skater who focuses on technical tricks and stunts) or a "Grounder" (a skater who focuses on big air and vert tricks). The game also features a new "Nail the Trick" system which allows the player to manipulate the skateboard in mid-air to perform more complicated tricks. The game also features a new online mode which allows up to eight players to compete in various online challenges.
