It is the sequel to the original Vigilante 8, and was developed by Luxoflux and published by Activision. The game is set in an alternate future in which the United States is in the midst of an energy crisis. As a result, a powerful energy source called Omega is sought after by a variety of factions, including the government, corporations, and the vigilante group known as the Vigilantes. The player takes control of one of eight playable characters, each with their own unique vehicles and weapons, and must battle their way through a variety of levels while completing objectives and destroying enemy vehicles. The game features a variety of game modes, including single-player story mode, split-screen multiplayer, and online play. The game also features destructible environments, and a variety of power-ups and weapons to use against opponents.
