Samtse in Bhutan 2 Samtse is a town located in southwestern Bhutan. It is the administrative center of Samtse District and the capital of Samtse Dzongkhag. The town is situated at an elevation of 1,100 metres (3,600 ft) above sea level and is located on the banks of the Amo Chu River. Samtse is a major trading centre for the region and is connected to the Indian border town of Phuentsholing by a highway.
