Battle of Fenudong 5 Battle of Fenudong was a battle fought in the year 621 AD between the Tang Dynasty of China and the Eastern Tujue, a nomadic people of Central Asia. The battle took place in the Fenudong region of the Gobi Desert, near the modern-day city of Urumqi in Xinjiang, China. The Tang forces, led by the general Li Jing, were victorious in the battle, which marked the beginning of the Tang Dynasty"s expansion into Central Asia. The battle is also known as the Battle of Yiwulu, after the nearby Yiwulu River.
