Serres in Greece 1 Serres is a city in northern Greece, located in the region of Central Macedonia. It is the capital of the Serres regional unit and the largest city in the region. It is situated in a fertile plain at an elevation of about 70 metres (230 ft), some 24 kilometres (15 mi) northeast of the Strymon river and 69 km (43 mi) north-east of Thessaloniki, respectively.
