Blood Diamond- movie 7 Blood Diamond is a 2006 American political war thriller film directed by Edward Zwick and starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Connelly, and Djimon Hounsou. Set during the Sierra Leone Civil War in 1999–2001, the film depicts a country torn apart by the struggle between government-supported diamond mining and revolutionary forces. It follows a South African mercenary, a Mende fisherman, and a Sierra Leonean smuggler as they join forces to recover a rare pink diamond from the jungle.
