Woodbridge New Jersey 5 Woodbridge is a township in Middlesex County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2010 United States Census, the township had a total population of 99,585, reflecting an increase of 2,382 (+2.5%) from the 97,203 counted in the 2000 Census, which had in turn increased by 9,482 (+10.8%) from the 87,721 counted in the 1990 Census. Woodbridge was the sixth-most-populous municipality in New Jersey in 2010. Woodbridge was incorporated as a township by an act of the New Jersey Legislature on June 1, 1869, from portions of Perth Amboy Township. The township is named after Reverend John W. Woodbridge of Newbury, Massachusetts, who settled in the future township in 1664.
