The film follows Sam Lowry, a government employee who searches for a woman who appears in his dreams while he is working in a mind-numbing job and living a life in a small apartment, in a dystopian version of London. The film stars Jonathan Pryce and features Robert De Niro, Kim Greist, Michael Palin, Katherine Helmond, Bob Hoskins, and Ian Holm. Brazil was selected for the 1985 Cannes Film Festival and was nominated for two Academy Awards. It has since become a cult classic, with a 97% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
