Assassins Creed 4 Black Flag 11 Assassin"s Creed IV: Black Flag is an action-adventure video game developed by Ubisoft Montreal and published by Ubisoft. It is the sixth major installment in the Assassin"s Creed series, a sequel to 2012"s Assassin"s Creed III. Its historical timeframe precedes that of Assassin"s Creed III, though its modern-day sequences succeed III"s own. Black Flag was first released for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii U in October 2013 and was later released for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Microsoft Windows in November 2013. The story follows the adventures of Edward Kenway, grandfather of Assassin"s Creed III protagonist Ratonhnhaké:ton, who is drawn into the Assassin–Templar conflict. The game is set in the Caribbean during the Golden Age of Piracy, and follows Kenway as he establishes a pirate republic and assumes leadership of the West Indies Brotherhood of Assassins.
