Asterix and the Olympic Games 1 Asterix and the Olympic Games is a 2008 French-German-Spanish 3D computer-animated adventure comedy film directed by Frédéric Forestier and Thomas Langmann, and written by Langmann, Jean-Luc Goossens and Alexandre Charlot. The film is based on the comic book series Asterix by René Goscinny and Albert Uderzo. It is the fourth Asterix feature film, and the first to be made in 3D. The film follows Asterix and Obelix as they travel to Greece to help their friend Alafolix compete in the Olympic Games. Along the way, they battle Brutus and his Roman troops, and encounter gods and goddesses from Greek mythology. The film was released in France on 29 October 2008, and in Germany on 6 November 2008. It was released in the United Kingdom on 30 January 2009.
