9 De Kalb Avenue 3 DeKalb Avenue is a major thoroughfare in Atlanta, Georgia, running east–west through the city. It is named for American Revolutionary War hero Johann de Kalb, who served under General George Washington. The street runs through the neighborhoods of Edgewood, Kirkwood, East Lake, Decatur, and Downtown Atlanta, and is home to many businesses, restaurants, and other attractions. It is also home to the historic DeKalb Avenue Station, a former streetcar stop on the Atlanta Streetcar system.
