Aurillac in France 1 Aurillac is a commune in the Cantal department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of south-central France. It is the prefecture of the department and lies on the River Jordanne. The inhabitants of the commune are known as Aurillacois or Aurillacoises. Aurillac is located in the Massif Central mountain range and is a gateway to the Parc Naturel Régional des Volcans d"Auvergne.
