Bafut Kingdom in Cameroon 1 Bafut is a traditional kingdom located in the Northwest Region of Cameroon. It is the homeland of the Bamum people, a subgroup of the larger Tikar ethnic group. The kingdom is ruled by the Fon of Bafut, who is the traditional ruler of the Bamum people. The Fon of Bafut is the head of the Bamum Council of Chiefs, which is responsible for the governance of the kingdom. The kingdom is divided into four administrative divisions, known as the four quarters. These are the Ndop, Bafut, Njinikom, and Ngoketunjia quarters. The Fon of Bafut is responsible for the administration of justice and the enforcement of traditional laws and customs in the kingdom. The kingdom is also home to a number of cultural sites, including the Bafut Palace, the Bafut Shrine, and the Bafut National Museum.
