Hardwick Hall United Kingdom 4 Hardwick Hall is a country house in Derbyshire, England, about 5 miles (8 km) southwest of Chesterfield. It was built in the late 16th century by the Cavendish family and is now in the care of the National Trust. The hall is renowned for its Elizabethan architecture and is considered one of the finest examples of Elizabethan prodigy houses. It is a Grade I listed building and has been described by Historic England as "one of the most impressive and well-preserved Elizabethan prodigy houses in the country".
