Huanggang in China 3 Huanggang is a prefecture-level city in southeastern Hubei province, People"s Republic of China. It is situated to the north of the middle reaches of the Yangtze River and is bounded in the north by the Dabie Mountains. Huanggang has an administrative area of 17,446 km2 (6,735 sq mi) and a population of 6,053,687 as of the 2010 census. It is the second-largest city in Hubei after the capital, Wuhan.
