Ialysos in Greece 1 Ialysos is a town and a former municipality on the island of Rhodes, in the Dodecanese, Greece. It is situated on the northwestern coast of the island, about 4 km west of the town of Rhodes and 16 km southwest of the town of Kamiros. The municipal unit has an area of 16.700 km². Its population was 5,395 at the 2011 census. It is part of the Rhodes regional unit. The municipality was created in 2011. The municipal unit consists of the communities Ialysos, Archipoli, Kallithea, Paradisi, Trianta and Afandou. The city is home to the ancient Doric temple of Athena Polias, the ancient stadium of Ialysos and the remains of an ancient Greek theater. The mountain village of Filerimos is also part of the municipal unit and lies about 2 km from Ialysos.
