Ceratophyus hoffmannseggi 3 Ceratophyus hoffmannseggi is a species of small, freshwater fish native to the Danube and Tisza river basins in Central and Eastern Europe. It is a member of the family Cyprinidae and is also known as the Hoffmann"s carp or the hoffmannseggi. This species is found in shallow, slow-moving waters with a sandy or muddy bottom. It has a cylindrical body with a small head and an upturned mouth. Its body is olive green to brown in color, with a lighter belly. It grows to a maximum length of 10 cm (4 in). This species feeds on small aquatic invertebrates and detritus. Breeding occurs in the spring and summer months.
