Eastmanosteus Eastmanosteus is an extinct genus of armored placoderm fish that lived during the Late Devonian period, approximately 380 million years ago. It was one of the earliest jawed vertebrates and is believed to be an ancestor of modern-day sharks. Eastmanosteus was a medium-sized fish, reaching lengths of up to 2 meters (6.5 feet). It had a heavily armored head and body, with a bony carapace covering its head and trunk. Its mouth was lined with sharp teeth, and its tail was covered in a series of large, overlapping scales.
