Natunaornis gigoura 1 Natunaornis gigoura is a species of extinct bird that lived during the late Cretaceous period in what is now Natuna Island, Indonesia. It is the only known species in the genus Natunaornis. The species was first described in 2019, based on a single fossilized humerus. Natunaornis gigoura was a small, long-legged bird, about the size of a modern-day quail. It is thought to have been a ground-dwelling bird, similar to modern-day quails, partridges, and other gamebirds.
