Opius latidens Opius latidens is a species of parasitoid wasp found in the eastern United States. It is a small, black wasp with yellow markings on its abdomen. It is a member of the family Braconidae and is known to parasitize the larvae of the eastern tent caterpillar. The female wasp lays her eggs on the caterpillar larvae, and the wasp larvae feed on the caterpillar until it is fully developed. The adult wasps then emerge from the caterpillar and fly away.
