Osmakasaurus depressus 1 Osmakasaurus depressus is an extinct species of large herbivorous dinosaur that lived during the Late Cretaceous period, about 85 million years ago. It was a member of the group of dinosaurs known as sauropods, and was closely related to the better-known Brachiosaurus. Osmakasaurus was a large animal, estimated to have been up to 30 meters (98 feet) long and weighing up to 30 tons. Its body was relatively slender compared to other sauropods, and its neck was proportionally longer than that of most other sauropods. Its head was relatively small, and its teeth were adapted for cropping vegetation. Its forelimbs were relatively short, and its hindlimbs were longer, giving it a sprawling gait. It is known from a single partial skeleton found in Argentina.
